Mitrice Richardson; Is it a race factor?

According to news reports, 24-year-old, African-American Female, Mitrice Richardson of Los Angeles was intoxicated and unable to pay her $89 bill at Geoffrey's Restaurant on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu around 10pm on Thursday. Sheriff's deputies took her to the Malibu-Lost Hills station where they booked her on suspicion of not paying for the meal and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Shortly after, they let her go around 1:25 a.m. on Friday morning citing jail overcrowding. She has yet to be seen and her whereabouts are unknown.

Had she been Caucasian, do you think the situation would have been handled the way it was and would the police still be searching for her?

  1. In my opinion, I believe that if Mitrice Richardson had been any other race, including Caucasian, that the situation would have been handled in the same manner. The bottom line is she broke the law. It didn't help her case that she was intoxicated. In addition, marijuana possession is probably the main reason she was taken into custody in the first place. Being that both of the offenses were minor misdemeanors, releasing her because of jail overcrowding isn't unreasonable. And since her whereabouts are unknown, it isn't unreasonable that the police are still searching for her. Race is definitely not an issue in this case.

  2. I read this and was blown. If the girl was white they would have waited for her mother of grandmother to come up there and pay the bill at the resturant. She did not try and dine and dash. And the fact they said she was acting suspicious come on now off weed be for real. The police stopped release people from jail after certain hours because of things like this and at the same time they do not release u with out a ride. I have been in the situation before. I was not there but i am sure she let her education show and told them about themselves. And Mr Anonymous why are there so many inconsistency in there stories.
